Project Vossenberg laarbeek

It is with pleasure that we note the successful completion of the construction of Zonnepark Vossenberg, located on the Vossenberg in Mariahout in the municipality of Laarbeek. This extensive project includes the installation of no fewer than 4,000 solar panels on an area of eight hectares (ha), with two hectares harmoniously designed as a landscape integration and an orchard.

At the beginning of 2021, the board of mayor and aldermen of the municipality of Laarbeek selected the solar park initiative of Solar Eur as the fifth and final pilot project within its sustainability ambitions. The completed solar park generates a capacity of 12 MW, which is equivalent to the annual energy consumption of more than 2,700 average Dutch households.

Solar Eur is known for the development, construction and realization of ecologically and socially responsible solar parks. The design of Zonnepark Vossenberg is evidence of this, whereby not only the surrounding environment has been explicitly taken into account, but also the flora and fauna that occur in the area.

In 2022, Solar Eur received the necessary permit and the positive decision for the SDE++ subsidy, after which the preparatory work for the construction of the solar park started. The actual construction started in September 2024 and the solar park was successfully connected to the electricity grid at the end of December of the same year.

Landscape design with a view to the partridge, scrub birds & badger An important goal of Solar Eur in the realisation of Zonnepark Vossenberg was to create a solar park that actively contributes to the expansion of the habitat of the partridge, various scrub birds and the badger. To this end, (kilo)metres of new beetle banks, hedges with nut and berry-bearing species, and attractive flower blocks were created.

Participation Solar Eur attaches great importance to the close involvement of local residents in its projects. A distinction is made between plan participation and financial participation. In the context of plan participation, kitchen table discussions were held with direct residents to integrate their valuable advice and ideas into the final design. In addition, an information meeting for residents was organised.

For financial participation, local residents are offered the opportunity to participate financially in the solar park in various ways. A special area fund will be set up and it will also be possible to invest in this sustainable project via a bond scheme.

Current status and follow-up: EOS Vossenberg The realisation of an energy storage system (EOS) Vossenberg is currently in an advanced stage on the site of the solar park. This EOS is being developed by TPStorage, the sister company of Solar Eur, and is expected to make a significant contribution to the stability of the energy grid.
